CHAPTER 10: KAIZEN FOREVER
Challenge
You're ready to graduate! But learning is a forever journey.
Now that you have learned to walk the flow and look for kaizen opportunities, you need to learn to reveal kaizen opportunities from the people themselves.
The trick is "Jidoka": whenever something is wrong, stop, call out and fix it right away (rather than hope someone will catch it later on).
Go to the gemba and find an oportunity to "stop, call, fix."
You'll see your first attempt at stop, call, fix will lead to incredible insight. And so will your second. And the third.
Practice with stop, call, fix until you see that the real source of kaizen forever is learning to never pass on a known mistake.
Further Thinking
What role
should a quality department play in a lean organization?
Were being audited on five levels on fifteen topics. I feel that if we actually worked on all these idtems, the plant
would just stop working. Am I missing anything?
How do you protect jobs while reducing lines and shifts?
How do I keep my lean team motivated for the long term?
How should I assess the success of our lean progress?
How can spending more time on the gemba improve quality?
Dr. Michael Ballé will assist as virtual sensei for this e-learning experience with your own team to illustrate the key concepts you'll explore in the book.
